Choices

How can one go about making a choice? Right now in my life, I have made the choice to attend college. This is both in order to further my education and to obtain a degree. This degree will show employers that i am knowledgable in a particular area.

Now I have to choose between a vast range of occupations. I know that I want to have a job that makes me happy. I still have no idea. I feel there is a lot of pressure of this decision.

If I go into the wrong career, I have wasted both time and money. Money being the more important of the two. I need to do research and lots of it before I make up my mind. This decision is more important than many others I have had to make in life.

All I want in life is to be happy. Isn't that the point of life? At first I thought a career that provided a good imcome would be the right decision. But why go to work just for the money? One thing that i have decided is to not go into a career for the wrong reasons. I will take my time and research all that I am interested in. Then I will make a decision.

You Can't Pick Your Family

Family is something that you'll have no matter what. They are your blood. Siblings in particular are the closest to you, blood-wise. All families are different. Some are closer than others while others are farther apart.

I always thought my family was farther apart. Now I'm talking about my immediate family. Mom, Dad, and sister. My sister and I have always been close, but as a family I felt distant. My sister moved out when she was 18. I was always out with my friends. This past weekend I realized my family is actually pretty close.

Maybe we don't see each other too much but we still love each other. Last Saturday my parents arrived back to town from vacation. (didn't take me) ha ha. Well my sister picked them up but they had no house key. It was 11pm and i came home to let them in. We all ended up hanging out till one, then my sister went home. It was really nice to have us all together again, laughing and having fun.

I am glad that my family works the way it does. Not everyone is so lucky. My friend was adopted, and his parents treat him like a servant. It's one thing to have to do chores, but doing all the yard work, house cleaning, and odd jobs. I can see why he isn't happy. Again he is much closer with his brother, even though they are not related. I feel bad that he didn't get to have a good relationship with his parents. Having a good family bond made me a stronger person. He had to tough it out. He just relied on support from friends. You can't pick your family.

My Advisor Experience

Upon entering Concordia University, I was accidentally placed as a bio-medical student. Really I was pre-pharmacy. Due to this mishap I didn't get the chance to meet my advisor. My chemistry teacher was the one who caught the mistake and told me.

Thanks to him I was able to change my schedule in time. Now the issue was finding and meeting with my true advisor. I found his name and e-mailed him through angel. I never recieved a response so I began to worry. A friend of mine who I met here told me where I could find his office.

I went and he wasn't in. He didn't have his office hours posted so I left and would try to attempt again to locate him. After my chemistry lab, I looked ito his office and he was there! Yes! His only free time was right then so I took the opportunity.

He was very informative and answered almost all of my questions. Before meeting with him I was unsure as to what exactly I wanted to do. Now I am sure i will stay in the pre-pharmacy program. It may have been difficult to find him but was well worth it. My advice to others if they have not yet met their advisor is to do so sooner than later. You never know what information might change your mind.

Historical Game

I would have to say that the Packers vs. Vikings game, which occured on Monday October 5th, is one that will be in the books. I myself do not watch much football and am sitting here right now watching in excitement. I feel that most Wisconsinites if not all the nation feels the same as I do.

Brett Farve became a legend. He was well known to all. He holds most of the all time records for quarterbacks. If he beats the Packers, he will be the only quarterback to defeat all the NFL teams. That's incredible!

What more could he ask for? Well this is where Wisconsin divides. Do we support Brett or the Packers? I myself can't choose and Minnesota is our rival. But here i am, not cheering for the Packers nor the Vikings but watching the excitement of it all.

This is a historical game. Whoever is not watching must either not know or just doesn't care. I am glad to say I watched it. Now when my children ask about our football history, I will have plenty to say. Go Brett, you old man. Yeah in the NFL forty-five is old!
